#Hp officejet pro 8720 print black only fullALSO - I subscribe to HP's Instant Ink program for both printers and really like the ability to print many pages in FULL COLOR at a very reasonable cost per page (something I never had before).įirst I should mention that my regular printer for the last several years was (a series of) HP DeskJet 1000-1010. Kudos to the engineers and technicians that improved an already good printer. On the HP8720 (which extends farther out in the front), the printed paper flips 180 degrees after it leaves the print mechanism and ends up printed side down in a paper tray that is now a part of the printer (and can NOT end up where you do NOT want it - sorry that there are two negatives in one sentence.) Where I was concerned about getting a printer that might be WORSE, I ended up with a printer VERY MUCH BETTER. There was a flip-up stop at the end of the paper tray that you had to remember to rotate up whenever you pulled the tray out of the printer - otherwise the printed paper might end up on the floor, desktop, wherever. As to the new design/appearance: On the HP8620, the printed paper exited the printer horizontally, ending up in a tray that had to be pulled out from the printer. Because I liked the HP8620 so much and saw that this printer was very different in appearance, I wondered if this printer might in some way be worse but this HP8720 printer is EVEN BETTER - much faster as to first page out and also printing pages in batches (25-50 pages at a time). Recently I bought a Samsung tablet AND this printer as the printer was on sale and then discounted another $50 by buying both at the same time. #Hp officejet pro 8720 print black only proThis review is from HP - OfficeJet Pro 8720 Wireless All-In-One Instant Ink Ready Printer - WhiteĪbout 3 years ago I bought an HP 8620 AIO printer and found it to be BETTER than I expected it to be (printing AND scanning). So, I took a chance on an HP printer and so far, it's the best printer I've had since my last HP printer that lasted about 10 years. It was a full letter size with no borders and looked exceptional on the "normal" quality setting. I was happily surprised by the speed and quality of the picture that came out. He said he could take a picture from my cell phone and print it out, so I let him, expecting the same garbage photo printing that I'd become accustomed to with that other printer. I was a little concerned that this was a brand new printer, totally different look and works differently than some of the other printers. If not for the Epson fiasco, I would have been upgrading an HP printer, so I let him go through his spiel. I've always had good experiences with HP printers. While I was looking at the printers, an HP rep approached me and asked if he could show me their newest printer. I recently picked up a new client and could justify buying a new printer. It turned out to be the worst printer I've ever owned. I made the mistake and bought an Epson printer a couple years ago. I will also say that it was easy to setup. If you get two years out of them with about 5 days a week use, you are doing good. Please realize, and you probably already do, these printers are not made too last anymore. Now, wouldn't you think that HP would have saved money instead of coming up with a slightly different design that would have allowed users with an 8600 still use their ink leftover from that printer? Same size and dimensions but slightly different ends on the inks. I was also hoping that the inks from the 8600 would fit the 8720 but not. There was a plastic dummy plug in the phone jack port on the printer and I removed that hoping it would fix the issue but it didn't. It doesn't affect the operation of the printer but is just an annoying message that comes up each time the screen comes out of sleep or after you print something. This issue goes back to at least 2015 when someone posted for help on HP and was having the same issue with an Officejet Pro 8620. My only issue with this printer and seems to be a common issue that HP has not fixed through firmware is that I keep getting a message that a phone cord is connected when there isn't. I like the way the paper comes out of this one and no paper extension to pull out. The Officejet Pro 8720 is an improvement and is faster than the 8600. So, I decided it was better just to buy a new printer than bother trying to fix the 8600. Trying to find a new one is almost impossible and if you do, they cost too much. My previous printer, Officejet Pro 8600, printhead went bad.
